This evening’s Jazz On 3 focuses on the music of Paul Dunmall who turned 60 earlier this year, and was recorded recently at the CBSO Centre in Birmingham. Paul’s Life In Four Parts gets its radio premiere, following performances last month. The band comprises Birmingham-based musicians Mike Fletcher, Percy Pursglove, Mike Hurley, Chris Mapp and Mark Sanders, and my review of the Jazzlines gig is here.
Before the band plays this evening, you can hear an interview Paul gave to Gail Brand interspersed with more music from Paul’s long career, and before that you can hear me talking briefly about the Birmingham scene and recommending an album by the Jonathan Silk Big Band. My review of the album is here.
It’s all at 11pm on BBC Radio 3 and then on the iPlayer for the next seven days. More information here.
