Lydia Glanville at the kit. She led her tight band through a nice mix of self-composed pieces and a number from bass player Trevor Lines. It was Steve Tromans’ birthday and he celebrated with some “freak out piano” on one of two David Bowie numbers featured, his piano decked out with birthday cards. There was mellow flugelhorn and electronically enhanced trumpet from Ben Thomas. Two sets of fine music from a band that sounded as though they belonged together. Lydia tells me that they will be recording a new album and playing more gigs in the near future.
