Blue-Eyed Hawk metamorphose this evening

They took their name from a W.B. Yeats’ poem and literature feeds into their music in a big way via vocalist Lauren Kinsella. Lauren and the rest of Blue-Eyed Hawk – trumpeter Laura Jurd, guitarist Alex Roth and drummer Corrie Dick – are equally adept at musical shape-shifting. All that means they are perfectly suited to tackling Franz Kafka 100 years after the publication of The Metamorphosis.

Hear how they do that this evening in a special session for Jazz On 3 (the programme starts at 11pm) and for 30 days hereafter. It’s part of BBC Radio 3’s In The Shadow Of Kafka season, and Blue-Eyed Hawk have written new bespoke music inspired by Kafka’s short stories.
