Birmingham Jazz brings a lot of fine jazz to Friday evenings, and now it’s going to do the same on Sunday afternoons, in collaboration with Urban Coffee.

The venue is Urban Coffee’s branch in Church Street, just off Colmore Row, in Birmingham city centre, and the bands will be duos (with one large exception). The Sunday Sets, as they are calling them, will be on the second Sunday of the month and start at 2pm, with two sets, all ending at 4pm. Entry is free with a £2 prize draw, the proceeds of which will go to the musicians.

  • The line-up for the next six months is:

12 April – David Grey, keyboards & Stuart Barker, bass
10 May – Sean Gibbs, trumpet & Ben Lee, guitar
14 June – Ben Lee, guitar & Anthony Marsden, vocals
12 July – Joey Walter, saxophone & Ben Markland, bass
9 August – Jim Wynn Big Band – The Sound Of Ellington
13 September – Ralf DeCambre, guitar & Mark Hamilton, saxophone
