What do Frank Sinatra and Steve Tromans have in common?

Apart from their good looks, of course, there is the stated opinion that Chicago is their kind of town.

Steve wears his Chicago affection on his sleeve this evening in the Jazz On 3 studios as he talks about the Birmingham-Chicago improvising ensemble project (the two cities are twinned, after all). You will also be able to hear the ensemble playing one of Steve’s pieces, Brain Food, written in honour of the venue where they were playing, The Hungry Brain, in Chicago.

Listen at 11pm this evening, or on the i-Player for the next seven days thereafter.

You’ll also be able to hear Troyk-estra, recorded at this year’s Cheltenham Jazz Festival. The vital link is here.
