Ever worried that those letter-writing campaigns to the authorities fell on deaf ears? Well, here’s some encouraging news from the Birmingham Jazz site:
We are very pleased that the campaign we mounted at the end of the year about the cut in funding to Birmingham Jazz from Birmingham City Council has been very successful. Thank you to everyone who wrote in to Cllr Mullaney. The decision has been reviewed and in 2011/12 BJ will receive 82% of the grant it received in 2009/10. It’s still a cut of 18%, but it does mean that we will be able to carry on with most of our programme.
