It’s been a long time coming, but singer/songwriter Sara Colman finally gets to launch her new album, called Ready, at the Glee Club Studio at the Arcadian Centre in Birmingham next Thursday (25 Sept).
It’s a really lovely album, full of great singing, both jazzy and soulful, and she has a hot trio of Chris Taylor on keyboards, Ben Markland on bass and Carl Hemmingsley on drums to provide the support for original songs plus her classy interpretations of Walter Becker’s Book of Liars and Stealer’s Wheel’s Stuck In The Middle With You as well as some fine standards. Her version of Don’t Go To Strangers is particularly beguiling.
